GEO Nova Scotia Appoints New CEO and Announces Leadership Transition

HALIFAX, NS – May 26, 2025 – GEO Nova Scotia is proud to announce the selection of Bonnie Ste-Croix as its first-ever Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This milestone marks a special moment in the organization’s evolution as it continues its mission to ensure every Nova Scotian has the digital tools and skills they need to thrive.

Founder and Executive Director, Matt Spurway, is excited to transition into a new role as Chief Development Officer (CDO), where he will continue to drive strategic growth, cultivate partnerships, and champion digital inclusion efforts province-wide.

“We are all thrilled to welcome Bonnie as GEO Nova Scotia’s first CEO,” said Spurway. “Her deep-rooted commitment to community, paired with her systems-thinking approach, will strengthen our organization and help build a digitally inclusive Nova Scotia.”

Ste-Croix brings over 20 years of leadership in community development, social policy, and systems innovation, with experience from British Columbia and Nova Scotia. Her career spans the non-profit sector, municipal government and most recently in the provincial government where her role included working closely with Spurway in support of GEO Nova Scotia.

“GEO Nova Scotia has grown rapidly over the past three years thanks to the incredible leadership of Matt and the dedicated team behind him,” said Ste-Croix. “I’m honoured to help take it to the next level. With the continued engagement of our amazing multi-sector network of partners, I’m excited to deepen and grow the impact of our digital inclusion work.”

With outstanding support from executive search firm Royer Thompson, GEO Nova Scotia received an impressive number of strong applications from across Canada and even overseas.

Ste-Croix will assume her new role on June 9, and have an early chance to introduce herself to partners at GEO Nova Scotia’s Annual General Meeting on Friday, June 13
