This October, GEO Nova Scotia is inviting individuals, workplaces, and community partners across the province to give their used mobile devices a new purpose.

A working mobile device is more than a convenience—it is
an essential connection to everyday life.

Without reliable access to technology, completing even basic tasks can become difficult or impossible. Donated devices will help people with:

Education & Employment

• Connect with school platforms and learning resources
• Search and apply for employment
• Participate in virtual interviews or workplace training

Healthcare

• Access telehealth and other healthcare services
• Book and manage medical appointments
• Access test results, prescription information, and health records

Housing

• Search for available housing and rental listings
• Complete and submit housing applications
• Connect with landlords, housing workers, and support services

Connection & Safety

• Receive emergency alerts or call for help
• Stay in touch with family, friends, and support networks
• Reach community programs and government services

By donating a device you no longer need, you can help another Nova Scotian participate more fully and safely in an increasingly digital world.

How to Participate

Organize a Workplace Collection

Become an official Workplace Partner and collect used mobile devices from your colleagues.

GEO Nova Scotia will provide:
• A collection box
• Promotional materials
• Guidance and logistical support

Whether you collect five devices or 500, every contribution helps.

A donated phone becomes even more valuable when it’s ready to connect.

Charitable contributions help us purchase discounted phones plans with data, allowing partners to provide fully connected, ready-to-use devices to people experiencing a crisis.

Drop off a Device

Have a cell phone, iPad, or other tablet to donate? Simply bring it to any Dr. Phone Fix (formerly Geebo Device Repair) location in Nova Scotia!

As GEO Nova Scotia’s partner for the Digital Inclusion Drive, Dr. Phone Fix will collect, assess, test, and refurbish donated devices as needed. Once ready for use, they will be distributed to people in need through GEO Nova Scotia’s 130+ community partners.

Before dropping it off, we ask that you factory-reset the device, remove any passcodes, and disconnect it from your Apple ID, Google account, or other personal accounts. This helps protect your information and ensures the device can be prepared for someone new to use.
