This Position

In this role, you will be a crucial member of our team, dedicated to help in the delivery of Digital Inclusion programs through the development and implementation of GEO Digital Champions programs.  Digital Champions programs are based off of an award-winning program originating in the United Kingdom. GEO Nova Scotia works with the Mhor Collective in Scotland to develop our programs as well as train and support GEO staff.    

Reporting directly to the Director of Programming, the Digital Champions Lead will work with them in the planning, organizing, staffing, and leading the Digital Champions programs.  They will also oversee key aspects of the Digital Champions program including partner outreach, reporting, and evaluation. 

This is emergent work that relies on positive contributions from a growing number of people and organizations with different priorities and perspectives. The Digital Champions Lead will encourage diversity of thought and perspective from partners and participants to help develop truly community – informed programs.

The Digital Champions Lead will maintain positive relationships with partner agencies and collaborate with all programming staff.  They work with the Director of Programming, GEO Connects Lead, and Executive Director to identify strategic actions for this program to achieve the organizations vision, mission and strategic plans.  

Position Responsibilities:

  • Marketing/ outreach for Digital Champions targeting service organizations to encourage uptake of the programs.
  • Training, scheduling, and supporting the GEO Nova Scotia programming team on how to deliver the various Digital Champions programs. 
  • Developing new programs, with implementation plans, manuals and processes that are needed to launch the programs.
  • Working with the Director of Programming and Executive Director to identify reports needed to measure the progress of the Digital Champions programs in relation to GEO Nova Scotia’s vision, mission and strategic plans.

    • Able to build a project/program plan, identify goals, determine requirements and identify constraints.
    • Able to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and show the initiative to work on your own and as part of a dispersed team.
    • Able to apply sound judgment, diagnose problems quickly, and have foresight into potential issues.
  • Experience supervising employees and demonstrated ability to execute strategic action plans, motivate and lead a team to achieve goals.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Strong digital skills.

What we see as assets for the role:

  • Experience teaching individuals and/or groups.
  • Knowledge of people who are disadvantaged or understanding of equity issues.
  • Experience with delivering community-learning opportunities, in particular, engaging with hard-to-reach groups of learners and the partner agencies that work with them.
  • Experience overseeing the development, management and delivery of training programs or a similar project. 
  • Experience in supervising a not-for-profit program initiative.
  • Experience working in partnership with the non-profit sector.
  • French-language proficiency.
  • Experience with Google Workspace and Salesforce.
  • Post Secondary education in a related field of study or comparable combination of education and experience.

The Package

Salary $57,000 – $70,000/ year (commensurate with experience). The compensation package includes expenses, three weeks of vacation, and cost-shared medical and dental benefits.

Position Details

While GEO Nova Scotia has an office in Dartmouth, it is a decentralized organization with the ability to employ staff across the province. Depending on their location and other factors, the Digital Champions Lead may spend most of their time working remotely, hybrid, or at the office.

A strong home internet connection and access to transportation is typically required for this position. 

40 hours /week, generally Monday – Friday during business hours. GEO staff enjoy a certain degree of flexibility in their schedules to accommodate needs outside of work.
